The reason is simple: the person who fulfills the conditions saves himself. It cannot be any other way. If one's theological tradition places a condition upon an individual that he must meet or satisfy in his performance to receive salvation, to that extent Jesus has not saved him. There is no other possible way for a Christian to believe he may loose his salvation except to believe that salvation is conditioned upon his own performance in some way in which he fails. The positive statement would declare that...if a Christian is finally and fully saved it it because he has met completely all conditions. If this be true, Jesus is not the actual savior, because the Christian himself met the conditions and thus saved himself. Jesus is not the actual savior because the believer still has the potential of being lost. We need to know from God's Word tht our salvation does not depend upon our performance. It depends upon the finished work of Christ, who purchased forgiveness for our sins past, present and future. God offers no salvation that is not eternal; for salvation does not depend on man either before or afterward. Eph.2:8 and 9. The continuance of our salvation depends upon the high priestly ministry of Yeshua. About this God swears:"Therefore He is able to save forever those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for them." Hebrews 7:25. I think I like the translation of Andy Gauss, a Greek scholar, in his book of the translated N.T. titled THE UNVARNISHED NEW TESTAMENT...it goes like this: "Also, while all those others became priests because death wouldn't let their predecessors stay on, He, by remaining forever, posssesses a priesthood beyond infringement, which also means He can permanently save those who pray to God through Him, since He is always alive and ready to intercede [with God} on our behalf." According to this verse, the only way a believer could be lost is for the risen Yeshua to die and stop interceding continually. Ha Satan loves to take obscure verses and passages out of context, and hurl them at us Believers. He also uses some ministers to promote the perpetual insecurity of God's children. I have met too many Christians who are on the edge of nervous breakdowns because they are in mortal fear that they will, or have, committed some mortal sin. Many others are neutralized because they're laboring to serve God with the wrong motive of trying to keep themselves saved. Ha Satan dances for joy at this kind of confusion caused by twisted Scripture. He always tries to known off our helmets of security in our salvation.. Thanks for giving it your attention! Todah, Yvonne From Eddie: *************** Salvation is a FREE gift to those who repent of their formal sins and accept Yeshua/Jesus as Messiah. Our SERVICE and FAITHFULNESS in God's Kingdom to do HIS Will AFTER we are saved determines our REWARDS in Heaven. The HIGHEST REWARD is being the BRIDE of Christ. However, salvation for the non-Bride of Christ qualifies you to spend ETERNITY with God in the World to come. **************************************************************************
